Halloween: The Game Characters: Michael, Heroes and Civilians
The two playable factions, the Deluxe character range, and exactly what Patch 1.0.2 changed about Michael in real matches.

The one-minute version
Sort characters by faction and nothing gets confusing.
One side is Michael Myers / The Shape. The other is Haddonfield Heroes / Civilians.
Launch material confirms Michael plus 10 playable Civilians. Digital Deluxe adds two exclusive Civilians, Richard and Alexis.
Residents and police appear as NPCs you can interact with, but that doesn’t make them selectable player characters.
The faction decides what you’re doing
Michael applies pressure through stalking, darkness and executions. Civilians pick up household items, help residents, contact the police and look for an escape window.
The official progression overview also lists Civilians’ Personality, Resourcefulness and Capability as separate attributes. So picking a character isn’t just a cosmetic choice — it changes how you approach objectives.
What to check when picking a character
- Want to learn stalking and environmental executions? Start in the single-player story as Michael.
- Want to practise coordination and information sharing? Join a Civilian match and confirm the phone, residents and escape objectives first.
- Want to compare characters? Record the official attributes, starting items and Perk Cards. Don’t lean on an unverified tier list.
- Deluxe characters are edition content. Don’t describe exclusive characters as owned by everyone.
What 1.0.2 actually changed about Michael
This matters more in a real match than any tier order.
Patch 1.0.2 (09-12) raised Michael’s base damage resistance and the damage resistance of Bloodthirst tiers 1 and 2. The stated reason was to strengthen Michael’s early game.
The same patch reduced how often Pocket Knives, Icepicks and other grab-escape items spawn across all maps. That tightens the Civilian answer of “pull a knife when grabbed”.
The developers also announced a direction for later: make Michael harder to stagger, and adjust melee damage, Civilian stagger states and combo speed. Those are plans, not shipped values.
So the useful thing to know isn’t who’s strong right now — it’s which numbers are moving.
Don’t overlook Loomis
One more character category is easy to miss: Loomis reinforcements, the police side.
They already appear in live matches, and the developers list them as an open crash trigger — entering the match with Loomis reinforcements is one of the crashes still under investigation. Residents and police are interactive NPCs, not selectable player characters.
Limits
The developers haven’t published full skill values for each Civilian. This page covers only what the official pages and patch posts state.
